A large square composition of exceptional narrative density — the most populated and the most structurally complex of all the creature works. Unlike the spacious menagerie compositions where creatures are distributed with room between them, here the forms press against each other across the entire surface, creating a world at maximum capacity. Every zone of the composition has something in it.
The cast is Sidney's most varied: a large pink bird-creature at upper center with spread wings and a spotted body; a teal-and-yellow angular form at upper left; a purple elongated figure at center with visible limbs and a discernible head; at lower center, a concentric ring form — the geode or portal vocabulary embedded within the creature world; at right, a yellow zigzag form and a column of snake-like outlines. At every margin, further forms continue beyond the picture edge, as if this parliament extends beyond what we can see.
Two elements deserve specific note. At center, the purple standing figure is the most humanoid creature in the entire collection outside the explicit figure works — it has upright posture, head-shoulders-torso-limbs proportion, and a forward orientation that reads as genuine personhood. And at lower center, the small concentric ring form brings the Eye of Everything vocabulary into the creature world: Sidney's deepest formal preoccupation appearing as one citizen among many.
The overall impression is of a complete society — not a menagerie of isolated specimens but a gathering, a parliament, creatures in each other's presence.
