A large pastel composition of considerable visual complexity and density — one of the most fully developed works in the abstract pastel series. The picture surface is almost entirely covered with interlocking biomorphic forms in pastel: large kidney-shaped and oval masses in pink, purple, yellow, blue, and green, each outlined in black or dark color and filled with internal color variations. The forms press against each other across the full surface, leaving almost no ground visible.
What distinguishes this work from the other dense pastel compositions is the presence of eye-like forms throughout: at center, a blue-and-red circular eye element embedded within a larger form; at upper right, two small connected forms that read as nostrils or paired eyes; at lower left, a fish-like form with a visible eye and open mouth. These eye and face elements give the composition a quality of being looked at from within — as if the abstract forms are not merely shapes but presences, watching.
At right center, a large pink field dotted with small circles in orange and blue creates a cellular texture — the most explicitly biological passage, suggesting tissue viewed under magnification. The black-and-white striped element at lower center introduces a geometric note amid the organic forms.
The right edge carries a column of undulating line forms — pink waves — that read as either a formal border or the continuation of forms that extend beyond the picture's edge. Either way, they give the composition a sense of incompleteness, of a world that continues beyond what we are shown.
