The largest and most signed of the Abstract Creatures watercolors — 11.75 by 15 inches — with a signature visible at the lower right. Three large creature-like forms dominate the composition against a white ground animated by colored marks: at the left a dark elongated creature or vessel form with a circular eye-like element and yellow sunflower-like marks; at the center a large rounded open form with interior dots and cross-hatching suggesting an egg or seed; at the right a voluminous rounded creature-form with fluid organic contours. Surrounding these three dominant forms, smaller marks — blue ink strokes, yellow sweeps, colored dots, gestural arcs — fill the space with atmospheric energy.
The three principal forms are more deliberately composed than the dense all-over surface of Work 1602 — here the viewer reads three distinct creatures in a dynamic relationship, each with its own organic logic. The signed status and the larger format confirm this as a considered, completed work rather than a study. The signature at the lower right places this in the company of Works 1480 (signed still life), 1491 (signed landscape), 1519 (signed photograph), 1565 (signed child's drawing), 1591 (signed scratchboard), 1597 (signed self-portrait) as works Sidney chose to claim with his name.
The combination of ink line and watercolor wash — the ink providing structure while the wash provides atmosphere — is most fully developed here among the watercolor creature works. The three creatures in their space feel genuinely alive: the left creature's dark body and flower-like eye, the center form's cellular interior, the right creature's fluid shape all suggesting independent life-forms in a shared environment.
