A vibrant watercolor of imaginative fantasy content — flying saucer-like objects float in the upper portion above an explosive chromatic field of watercolor washes: purples, yellows, pinks, blues, greens. In the lower portion, a receding train track or road leads toward the horizon, a yellow bird beside it, and various architectural or vehicle forms at the left.
This work is NOT by Sidney T. Cothran. Based on Volney's note that siblings' art was included in the upload batch, this appears to be the work of one of Sidney's siblings rather than Sidney himself. The style — the flying saucer imagery, the explosive watercolor technique, the surrealist juxtapositions — is entirely different from anything in Sidney's practice.
Sidney's work is grounded in observation: figures from life, landscapes from nature, abstract forms grown from his study of organic forms. This watercolor operates in a different register entirely — fantastical, freeform, narrative.
This document records the work for completeness but recommends it be clearly separated from Sidney's work in any final exhibition or publication.
