A large green chalk seated figure drawing notable for showing the face — the model seated with the upper body turned slightly toward the viewer, the face in three-quarter view with the eyes downcast. Most green chalk figure drawings show the back or the face barely indicated; here the face is a genuine presence: the brow and eye described, the nose in three-quarter view, the expression one of absorbed inwardness.
The body fills the composition generously: the shoulders at the upper zone, the chest and waist below, the arm extending to the left with the hand specifically described — individual fingers, the relaxed posture of a resting hand. At the lower composition, both legs are broadly described, the feet barely indicated at the very bottom.
The green chalk marks are among the most sustained in the series: shadow buildup at the waist and beneath the arm, the tonal range giving the seated form genuine three-dimensionality. This is the most fully modeled green chalk figure in the collection.
The arm and hand at the left foreground — reaching toward the lower left — are the composition's most active elements, giving the otherwise still figure a sense of reaching or adjusting.
