A large pencil figure drawing of a body in a forward lean — the torso bending at the waist, the head tilted forward and down, the figure in the attitude of someone reaching toward the ground or looking at something below them. The composition occupies most of the tall picture field, the figure filling it from near the top to the lower third.
The most remarkable element is the face — seen in an unusual three-quarter downward view, the face tilting toward the viewer while the rest of the body bends away. The expression, in this difficult perspective, is nonetheless readable: a slightly abstracted attention, the eyes looking downward. The face in this position shows the top of the head and the brow prominently, the features diminishing toward the chin below.
The anatomy of the lean is handled correctly: the spine's curve under the bending torso, the shoulder blades adjusting, the arms hanging or reaching toward the lower zone. The lower body — the hips and the legs — is described more broadly, the drawing concentrating its detail in the upper body and the face.
At the lower portion, the two hands come together in a gesture that is the drawing's compositional anchor — cupped, holding, or resting against each other with the concentrated attention of the Dancer's Bow.
